BRG has now completed a concrete patio, landscape stairs, wood fence and a screened in porch in the CRR in Ellijay, Georgia. We poured and finished a concrete patio and wall underneath the existing deck to take care of the erosion and dirt problem.

Wet concrete- just poured
We also screened in an existing porch, even screening in the underside to prevent any insects from entering.

Even the underside was screened in!
Our clients expressed interest in having easy access to the rest of their back yard, which was quite steep right out of the basement. So we designed a custom set of stairs and landing that would accommodate them.

Notice the detail in the stair treads and landing boards- opposing directions make for easy recognition.
A four foot high wooden fence was also installed to make better use of the back yard area.
BRG offers a complete list of home services for any Coosawattee River Resort residents.

A great fence to keep your pets in.

Babcock Residential has just completed a re-siding project in Jasper, GA. We removed all of the old siding and replaced it with Hardy Plank. Pretty standard, except for one south facing wall.
Our clients had indicated to us that two of the bedrooms adjacent to the south facing exterior wall got much hotter than the rest of the house on a sunny day. An old article I had read some years back came to mind describing a roofing system that buffered the attic with a radiant barrier, air space, roof sheathing, and then the shingles. This allowed the heat radiating from the shingles to be reflected back and then sucked right of of the roof system without ever entering the attic space, dramatically reducing heat build-up.
I thought that this would work perfectly in the southern wall that was radiating so much unwanted heat into the house. So, first we installed a layer of 1/2″ rigid foam with a radiant barrier on one side onto the homes exterior sheathing.
Then we installed 1×2 strips vertically over the foam mirroring the studs beneath. With a screen at the bottom to stop the bugs and a continuous vent along the freeze board above, we installed the siding leaving an unrestricted airspace between the siding and the house.
This allows the hot air radiating from the siding to be caught in the air space and rise out of the vent above. This natural solar convection then draws the cool air off of the foundation below into the walls air space keeping the homes interior cool as well
After a few weeks of upper 80’s the owners are totally amazed and satisfied by the difference this application has made in the temperature those two rooms achieve.

We have been working on re-building a detached garage that was burned down early in January, 2010. Located in the city of Jasper, GA, the fire damage was very bad and we ended up calling the structure a total loss. Luckily no one was hurt.
Our client had indicated to us that he wanted to have more usable space on his property so I suggested rebuilding the two car garage with a large bonus room above. Without having to change the footprint size or footings, we have rebuilt it in an Arts and Crafts Style with a steep roof pitch and large shed dormer, to maximize the space above. The bonus room above will eventually be a dual purpose office for the home owners.
With smart designing and building practices we have helped a homeowner rebuild a bigger and better garage after a devastating fire and nerve racking experience.
Sometimes it can be stressful dealing with the insurance company as well, but Babcock Residential will be there to help negotiate in your behalf to make sure that you will get what is rightfully yours.
Please give BRG the opportunity to work with you through your homes disaster to rebuild better and more efficiently than before.
I will add pictures soon of the step by step building process for everyone to see.

Skilled Installer
Hardboard or Masonite siding can deteriorate quickly, especially with the amount of rain we’ve received over the last year, here in Georgia. Cobb County has many homes that were built using these fiber board materials.
Babcock Residential has skilled craftsman available to come out to your home, access the damaged areas, and remove and replace only the damaged areas. This process can greatly decrease the cost of re-siding the entire residence while protecting and preserving the integrity of the structure.
